Roots and Resilience – This arts-based support group is for students at UBC of all genders who have experienced sexualized violence. There will be folks from diverse genders present. The group will run from January 30th to March 26th (no session on February 20th due to the reading break) on a drop in basis. It will run every week, on a Thursday from 4:30pm – 6:30 pm, and food will be provided before the group. The purpose of the group is to build community and to connect with others to foster healing and empowerment.
QTBIPOC Community Care Circle – Facilitated by members of the SASC Team and Pride Collective, this group is for QTBIPOC survivors of sexualized violence to gather in community. The QTBIPOC Community Care Circle ran on a weekly basis from October 8th to November 19th, 2019 thanks to funding from the Equity Enhancement Fund from the Equity and Inclusion Office.
Multi faith Spiritual Support for Survivors – There may come a time in your recovery to move beyond words, beyond logic, and confront your spiritual beliefs. The SASC Spiritual Care Support Group helps survivors move beyond belief to spiritual healing. Using the Kintsugi Circle of Healing, this group, designed and facilitated by Muse Greenwood, explored questions around spirituality, sexual violence, and trauma. We were excited to have hosted four Saturday sessions for this new support group in October 2019.
