The volunteer program at the SASC runs throughout the UBC academic year from September – April.

We welcome applicants of all genders, orientations, and levels of experience in anti-violence work. Please note that none of our volunteers work directly with clients.
SASC volunteers are instrumental to the upkeep of the office space, supporting our outreach events, tabling events, and assisting with workshop facilitation. Volunteers are also welcome to lead community events and other projects as well with the support of the outreach team. SASC outreach volunteers support events for Sexual Assault Awareness Month, academic conferences such as the F-Word Conference, and AMS initiatives such as Clubs Days. Our volunteers have led large community events such as Healing Fires: Art by Survivors and Allies and Consent Tea.
SASC volunteers also have the opportunity to learn and engage with social justice and anti-violence education and mentorship. Our volunteer training takes place over a weekend with community facilitators working also working in different areas of anti-violence in order to give volunteers a solid foundation of anti-oppression knowledge. Throughout the school year, facilitators are also brought in to educate our volunteers and enrich our program during our monthly meetings.
Volunteer Application Timeline for the 2018/2019 Academic Year:
Aug 7th – Applications go live.
September 10th – Application for closes at 11:59PM
September 12th – Applicants with be contacted by September 12th at the latest, but interviews will be done on a rolling basis, dependent on volume.
September 21st-23rd – Volunteer training!
- Friday, Sept 21st: evening get-together and introductions (5:00-9:00PM)
- Saturday, Sept 22nd: 11AM-6PM training
- Sunday, Sept 23rd: 11AM-5PM training and ice cream social
